Renewal in the University

The surge of such centers, which emphasize undergraduate education, began with the formation of the James Madison Program at Princeton University.

Jay Schalin’s report discusses whether these programs are political entities or reflective of objective scholarship; who supports them and who controls their activities; and what their emergence means for academia.
