The John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy is participating in the annual “Friedman Legacy Day” to showcase the late professor’s famous policies\, including tax reform and school choice. \nGeorge Leef\, Director of Research at the John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy will be the speaker at an event on July 31 st in Hickory\, NC. A luncheon will be held at the Crowne Plaza\, 1385 Lenoir-Rhyne Blvd. SE\, Hickory\, NC 28602. Registration opens at 11:30 and lunch will begin at noon. To register\, please go to popecenter.org/events. \nThe Pope Center event is being co-sponsored by the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice\, a group founded by Dr. Friedman and his wife\, Rose.

Friedman was one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. He dealt often with the deficiencies in our K-12 system\, but wrote relatively little about higher education. Nevertheless\, he made sharp observations about the problems we face in higher education and set forth some radical solutions. George will take what we know about Friedman’s views on higher education and use them to discuss current trends and developments as Friedman would have seen them.
