In her book\, Grabar\, shows just how full of flat-out lies\, distortions\, and noxious propaganda the “1619 Project” really is. It is essential reading for every concerned parent\, citizen\, school board member\, and policymaker. \n \n  \n  \nMary Grabar was born in Slovenia when it was still part of the Communist Yugoslavia and grew up in Rochester\, New York. She earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Georgia in 2002 and taught at a number of colleges and universities in Georgia until 2013. \nWhile teaching\, she wrote widely on political\, cultural\, and educational topics\, and founded the Dissident Prof Education Project\, a nonprofit reform initiative. \nIn 2014\, she moved to Clinton\, New York\, and became a resident fellow at The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization.

Prior to writing Splintered: Critical Race Theory and the Progressive War on Truth\, he co-edited and wrote chapters in The Critical Classroom (The Heritage Foundation\, 2022)\, discussing the racial prejudice that comes from the application of critical race theory in K-12 schools. In 2021\, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster nominated Jonathan to serve on the board of the South Carolina Public Charter School District\, a statewide charter school authorizer. He has researched and testified on education policy around the U.S. \nJonathan co-edited and wrote chapters in the book The Not-So-Great Society\, which provides conservative solutions to the problems created by the ever-expanding federal footprint in preschool\, K-12\, and higher education. \nJonathan previously served as the education director at the Goldwater Institute\, where he remains a senior fellow. He was a member of the Arizona Department of Education’s first Steering Committee for Empowerment Scholarship Accounts\, the nation’s first education savings account program. He is also a Senior Fellow with The Beacon Center of Tennessee\, a nonpartisan research organization\, and a contributing scholar for the Georgia Center for Opportunity. \nPrior to joining Goldwater\, Jonathan was the director of accountability for the South Carolina Public Charter School District. Jonathan previously studied education policy at the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas and worked with the School Choice Demonstration Project\, the research team that evaluated voucher programs in Washington\, D.C. and Milwaukee\, Wisc. \nJonathan holds a B.A. in English from Furman University and an M.A. in economics from the University of Arkansas.

The American public rightly has lost its confidence in higher education and its ability to train tomorrow’s teachers\, physicians\, and leaders. \nThe General Education Act provides a solution. \nThe National Association of Scholars (NAS)\, the James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal\, and the Ethics & Public Policy Center (EPPC) have published the new model General Education Act (GEA). The GEA reforms and replaces the failed system of cafeteria-style distribution requirements geared to faculty research specialties\, rather than to the true requisites of liberal education. She is a research fellow at FIRE\, host of the Lost Debate podcast\, a columnist at the New York Post\, and a regular contributor to numerous publications and television programs. Her commentary focuses on free speech\, campus culture\, civil liberties\, and youth issues from a Generation Z perspective.

Erec Smith claims that empowerment theory—which promotes individual\, communal\, and strategic efficacy—is missing from most antiracist initiatives\, which instead often abide by what Smith refers to as a “primacy of identity”: an over-reliance on identity\, particularly a victimized identity\, to establish ethos. \n  \nAbout the author: \nErec Smith is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric at York College of Pennsylvania\, and his primary work focuses on the rhetorics of anti-racist activism\, theory\, and pedagogy. \nHe is the president of the Foundation for Free Black Thought. \nIn addition to A Critique of Anti-Racism in Rhetoric and Composition\, Smith has also published The Lure of Disempowerment: Reclaiming Agency in the Age of CRT (2022).  \nHe tweets here.\n \n
