[LETTER] Martin Center Commends University of Alabama System for Restoring Standardized Testing

The president of the Martin Center, Jenna Robinson, wrote a public letter to leaders of the University of Alabama System praising their decision to restore the consideration of standardized test scores in undergraduate admissions. Robinson noted that the Martin Center has long supported merit-based admissions and said the move strengthens academic standards by giving admissions teams clearer, more objective measures of college readiness alongside other criteria. She thanked the system’s leadership for prioritizing both access and excellence and expressed hope that other state university systems would follow Alabama’s lead.
