Summer Session 2018 – Free Speech on Campus
May 18, 2018, 12:00 pm–1:30 pm
Our annual summer luncheon will feature Stanley Kurtz and will be held at Events! On Front in Wilmington, NC on Friday, May 18. Dr. Kurtz will discuss free speech on campus, institutional neutrality, and the policy progress that North Carolina has made on both of these issues.
Dr. Kurtz is a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a contributing editor at National Review Online. His policy proposal (co-authored with Jim Manley and Jonathan Butcher of the Goldwater Institute) served as the model for North Carolina’s 2017 campus free-speech legislation, the Restore Campus Free Speech Act. The proposal also received the 2017 Bob Williams Award for Outstanding Policy Achievement from the State Policy Network.
Dr. Kurtz received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College and his Ph.D. in social anthropology from Harvard University. He later taught at Harvard, winning several teaching awards for his work in a Great Books Program.
Individual tickets are $35. Table sponsorships (for 8 guests) are $250.
