On November 7, 2025, Martin Center president Jenna Robinson and research and policy fellow Shannon Watkins appeared on the Cowboy State Daily Show with host Jake Nichols to discuss the state of civics education in Wyoming.
Watkins highlighted the Center’s recent 50-State Comparison: Civics Education report, noting that only 14 states currently require a civics course as a condition of college graduation—and that Wyoming is among this small group of states taking the issue seriously.
Robinson pointed to Utah’s General Education Act as a strong legislative model that Wyoming should consider, emphasizing the importance of grounding civics instruction in primary documents. She stressed that studying the nation’s founding texts is essential to helping students understand American constitutional principles and the structure of self-government.
