Robert M. Whaples

Robert M. Whaples, professor of economics, has taught at Wake Forest University since 1991. He is a research fellow at the Independent Institute and co-editor of the Independent Review, a quarterly journal which publishes scholarship at the intersection of economics, political science, history, law, and philosophy. He has recently co-edited four books – Future: Economic Peril or Prosperity?, The Routledge Handbook of Modern Economic History, The Routledge Handbook of Major Events in Economic History, and The Economic Crisis in Retrospect: Explanations by Great Economists. Another book he edited, Pope Francis and the Caring Society, will be published later this year. He is also book review editor for EH.net, a website dedicated to making economic and business history accessible to the public. He teaches Introduction to Economics at WFU, as well as courses in the economics of entrepreneurship, environmental/natural resource economics, and current economic issues. His course Modern Economic Issues (2007), which includes 36 thirty-minute lectures, is available on CD and DVD from The Teaching Company.
