Stephen Porter

Stephen R. Porter is professor of higher education in the College of Education at North Carolina State University, where he teaches courses in applied statistics and quantitative research methods. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Rochester, with a concentration in econometrics. Prior to his faculty career, he spent a decade as a higher-education administrator, serving most recently as director of institutional research at Wesleyan University. He has chaired several review panels for the Institute of Education Sciences and was appointed twice as a visiting scholar at RTI International. The U.S. Department of Education, the Institute of Education Sciences, the Lumina Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and the Walton Family Foundation have funded his research.
