RALEIGH, NC—The James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal has sent a letter of thanks to Representative Mindy McAlindon and Senator Jim Dotson for sponsoring Arkansas HB1696, the Strengthening Arkansas Education Act. The letter praises the bill’s creation of a rigorous 35-credit-hour core curriculum for state-supported colleges and universities, emphasizing foundational knowledge in civics, history, and the liberal arts.
“This bill prioritizes educational excellence and civic responsibility,” said Martin Center president Jenna Robinson. “It’s great to see states taking the initiative to reform general education.”
